This guide covers how to set up SIP.US messaging service with the third-party Textable app for use on desktop or mobile devices. You should already have an SMS-enabled number with a valid 10DLC and Campaign plus an active SMS billing plan prior to beginning this guide.
1. Log in to your SIP.US account and navigate to the Messaging tab to view your SMS-enabled numbers. Your numbers should have a green checkbox. You will configure your DID (number) here in latter steps.
2. Open another tab and navigate to the Textable website and then create an account.
Note: You will need to configure the account via the Textable website before you can utilize the mobile app for texting service. Numbers are not configurable via the app.
3. Once you have created a Textable account, navigate to the My Profile menu and view the Account Details tab. Enter your name and email. In the Phone Number field, enter your SMS-enabled number. Depending on your account, choose SIP.US as the Provider option in the dropdown menu.
4. The Access Key and Secret Key fields need to be filled in next. Retrieve these from the SIP.US portal from step one. Click on the API Keys button and name the API Key and click Create. Copy the Access Key and Secret Key info into Textable and submit the changes via the Save User Details button. Save the keys elsewhere for your personal records. API Keys cannot be viewed again later in our Portal and you will instead have to generate new ones.
5. Navigate back to the SIP.US portal to create the Webhook. Click on the Webhook button and then Create New Webhook in the pop-up box. Name the Webhook in the Description field and route it to the following URL - https://inbound.textable.app/receive?provider=sipus
6. The last step in the SIP.US portal is to assign the Webhook to the SMS-enabled DID. Click on the dropdown option and choose the webhook you just created. The UI will confirm your changes.
7. You can now test the Textable app and messaging should be functional. To begin messaging, click New Conversation.
Feature Notes
- SMS and MMS are supported, you can write private notes, export and archive conversations, add contacts, switch between SMS-enabled numbers, create macro responses, add signatures, block numbers, and more.
- Textable is API-based, so you can use it in parallel with a phone system where the DIDs route for VOIP. You can also scale up with Textable for use with a team if needed.
