This brief overview will guide you in changing or modifying the password for your SIP trunk(s). Please note that changing or modifying your SIP trunk password will cause a brief interruption in service. We recommend first checking with your IT department or VoIP service managing partner before making any changes in order to minimize downtime.
It will be necessary to change the password in your SIP.US portal account as well as in your VoIP device. The order does not matter, but this guide will start with changing the password in the SIP.US portal first.
To modify your trunk password in the SIP.US portal, you will need to:
- Log in to your SIP.US portal https://login.sip.us/account/
- Navigate to SIP Trunking and select the SIP Trunks submenu.
You will see all of your SIP trunks listed in the menu. Click on "Show Password" to display the current password. Click on "Modify Trunk" to display more options including a field to change the existing password.
Update your password to the new 16 character minimum or change it if already at least 16 characters, then submit the changes.
Customer VoIP Devices
You will now need to ensure the same password is set in your VoIP Device. If you are unsure where this password is located, refer to our Device Setup Guides for supplemental info on common VoIP devices.
