SIP.US provides limited free voice service testing for both inbound and outbound calling. This allows prospective customers to test their network and phone system configurations before deploying to live environments and to demo the quality of service.
Limited outbound call testing is available immediately after account creation. Customer accounts will need to pass verification prior to inbound test call enablement.
Step 1: SIP Trunk Interconnection
Once an account is created, SIP.US will automatically assign a demo SIP trunk to the account in the customer portal. The user will then need to register the SIP trunk to their phone system for outbound call authentication and inbound call delivery.
Navigate to the SIP Trunking menu to view your SIP trunk and to retrieve the credentials. Refer to Interconnecting with SIP.US for proxy details and whitelisting requirements. Once the SIP trunk status shows registered in the customer portal, you may proceed to place test calls.
NOTE: If you need additional assistance with the interconnection process, please refer to the articles in the Getting Started and Troubleshooting Guides sections of the Help Center.
Step 2: Place Outbound Test Calls
Outbound test calling is limited to a test line which supports several call testing features. You can test audio playback (to confirm bidirectional audio), DTMF tones, and initiate call termination.
Test line: +1(228) 300-9312
SIP.US requires that you send outbound calls with 11-digits in the TO header and transmit a legitimate 10 or 11-digit caller ID in the FROM header. Please read Setting Up Outbound Calling for more information about INVITE header formatting requirements.
Example:
TO: 12223334444
FROM: 5556667777, 15556667777
If you need to perform additional outbound testing to different destinations, please complete the verification process and contact Sales once your account has been approved.
Step 3: Place Inbound Test Calls
Inbound call testing is available once the account has been approved via the verification process. The option appears on the right-hand side of the customer portal, labeled as "Get a Test Number" below a megaphone icon. Choose any of the available options and select "Add Number," which will auto-assign the DID to your demo SIP trunk.
Configure the inbound route to that DID in your phone system and then place a test call.
NOTE: SIP.US demo DIDs are only available for four hours after selection. Simply choose a new test DID if you exceed this period.
NOTE: Demo services for SIP.US are limited to two hours of total talk time and the remaining balance is indicated by the "Prepaid Balance" amount in the Customer Portal. If you require additional testing time, please reach out to our Sales team at sales@sip.us.
If you need direct technical support with any of the steps in this article, please open a ticket with our team at support@sip.us or call 800-566-9810 and choose option 4 for Technical Support.
